Boys' Lacrosse Equipment

Boys' Lacrosse Equipment

Lacrosse moves fast, and it can be a physical game. And while youth rules significantly limit stick and body checking, it's important that all players wear all required equipment to keep themselves safe.

REQUIRED Boys' Lacrosse Equipment:

  • Lacrosse stick.  I.e., "the crosse." Must meet rule specifications for the age group.
  • Lacrosse helmet. Must be meet NOCSAE standard and be SEI certified.
  • Shoulder pads. As of January 1, 2022, must meet the NOCSAE ND200 standard.
  • Arm or elbow pads.
  • Lacrosse gloves. (Hockey gloves won't work.)
  • Mouth guard.  Cannot be clear or white; Invisalign doesn't count. Refs will check!
  • Protective athletic cup. Get used to it, boys. Wear it every practice, every game.
  • Appropriate footwear. Non=metal cleats for grass and turf; sturdy sneakers or turf shoes for other surfaces as appropriate.

Optional Boys' Lacrosse Equipment:

  • Rib pads
  • Bicep pads

REQUIRED GOALIE EQUIPMENT

  • Helmet. Must meet NOCSAE standard and be SEI certified.
  • Throat guard. (For MLA goalies, Tonka will provide.)
  • Chest protector. As of January 1, 2021, must meet the NOCSAE ND200 standard. (For MLA goalies, Tonka will provide.)
  • Protective athletic cup. NEVER STEP INTO THE CAGE WITHOUT ONE!
