Boys Spring Field Lacrosse Season

Register by midnight on March 6 and save $50!

2021 Boys' Spring Field Lacrosse

In 2021, the MLA Boys' Youth Lacrosse program will be participating in GNLL's Spring Field League, operated by Homegrown Lacrosse

This spring field league will replace our traditional spring box season. Find information about the spring field league below and on our registration welcome page available via the registration link at the top of this page.

Games:
-Game schedule to be determined at league scheduling conference in mid-March.
-League play to begin in mid-April and run into early June, slightly overlapping the start of the YLM summer season.
-Games to be weekend doubleheaders, i.e., scheduled to be played in a 3-hour window on Saturdays or Sundays. (Selected games in late May and early June may be played on weeknights if needed to complete league season play.)
-Weekend doubleheader games may be played back-to-back when appropriate or scheduled with a one-hour break between games.
-Up to eight weekends of doubleheader action (16 total games) possible depending on opponent, field, and officials' availability, but a minimum of six games (three doubleheaders) guaranteed by GNLL.

Practices:
-Practice dates and times TBD after boys' and girls' spring games schedules have been set. At this point, we anticipate weeknight practices, but some practices may be scheduled for weekends, particularly in mid-late April.
-Anticipating 1-2 practices per week, fields permitting.

Ages: 10U, 12U, 14U
8U players who wish to join a 10U team for league play should contact the Boys' Youth Director for a waiver. MLA's 8U program typically runs in-house play only and will be opened in mid-March via a separate registration, as will MLA's "Little Skippers" 6U Co-Ed Clinic program.

Try-outs: No tryouts for the GNLL Spring Field League. MLA will make every effort to create balanced teams based on player experience.

Cost:  $300 per player. Includes reversible jersey.
Register by midnight on March 6 and save $50!

COVID-19 PROCEDURES: MLA will require all participants to abide by strict COVID-19 safety procedures, including social-distance requirements, self-evaluation, masking, and other protocols to be provided upon team formation.

Player Age Segmentation

Players must register according to current US Lacrosse Player Age Segmentation guidelines:

  • 14U-eligible athletes: DOB from June 1, 2006 - August 31, 2008
  • 12U-eligible athletes: DOB from September 1, 2008 - August 31, 2010
  • 10U-eligible athletes: DOB from September 1, 2010 - August 31, 2012
  • 8U-eligible athletes: DOB from September 1, 2012 - August 31, 2014

Applications for age waivers (“playing up” or “playing down”) will be considered on a case-by-case basis. This includes 8U-eligible athletes who wish to "play up" to 10U in league play. Final decisions on age waivers will be subject to approval by the MLA boys' youth director and the GNLL league manager. For age-waiver questions, contact the Boys' Youth Director

Players who have started 9th grade are not eligible regardless of DOB.
