Fall Boys' Lacrosse

The Registration "Fall Boys' Lacrosse" is not currently available.

Boys Fall Field (and 6U Co-Ed) Lacrosse (2023)

For the fall season, MLA will conduct in-house activities that combine instructional modules, clinic-style skill drills, and tailored in-house competition. This model allows our coaches to optimize player development at a time when many players will be aging up to the next age segment and remain flexible when attendance issues arise because of conflicts with other fall activities (e.g., football or hockey).

Activities for fall sessions will be appropriate for players of all skill levels.

LOCATION:
All sessions will be held at Badger Park in Shorewood (behind Shorewood City Hall), 5745 Country Club Road, Shorewood, MN 553331.

Dates:
Fall session will begin on Wednesday, September 6 and end on Wednesday, October 18.

Player Age Groupings for Fall Lacrosse Clinics
Players will be placed in two groups based on age and experience. One group will include 8Us, 10Us, and first-year 12Us--i.e., mostly 2nd through 5th graders. The second group will include second-year 12Us and 14Us--i.e., mostly 6th through 8th graders. It's possible for a player to request to move up or down a group based on size, athleticism, and experience--e.g., a second-year 12U who's new to the game and on the smaller side might opt to "play down" to the younger age group. The goal of the fall lacrosse clinics is to hone lacrosse skills and IQ; players should play in whichever group makes it most comfortable for them to do that. After initial placement, MLA will consider all requests for players to move up or down.

12U-14U Boys Information:
For second-year 12Us and all 14Us, 90-minute sessions will be held on:

  • Wednesdays from 7:30-9pm
  • Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30pm

8U-12U Boys Information:

For 8Us, 10Us, and first-year 12Us, 90-minute sessions will be held on:

  • Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm
  • Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm

For 6U Co-Ed:

  • Sessions will be held on Wednesdays 5-6pm

Registration cost:

  • $99 per player for 8U-14U
  • $59 per player for 6U Co-Ed

Note: During registration, 6U and 8U players will have the option to add to their registration a Warrior Warp Mini lacrosse stick suitable for play through the 8U level. MLA has sourced these sticks for our youngest players direct from Warrior and offers them at our cost ($35), which reflects a discount over retail pricing.

Uniforms: Uniforms are not included as part of registration, and will not be required for fall lacrosse activities. Returning players should wear a reversible jersey or practice pinnie from a prior season; new players may be given a reversible jersey or practice pinnie from existing stock leftover from prior seasons subject to availability. MLA welcomes the donation of MLA pinnies and uniforms from prior seasons that no longer fit.

Equipment:

  • For 10U-14U age segments, YLM requires full lacrosse equipment. This means: a certified lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, lacrosse shoulder pads, lacrosse arm or elbow pads, a fitted mouth guard (not clear or white, and Invisalign doesn't count), an athletic cup, and proper athletic footwear for play on turf (e.g., molded rubber or plastic athletic cleats; no metal cleats).
  • For 8U, players may wear the lacrosse equipment listed above or corresponding hockey equipment, e.g., hockey helmets, shoulder pads, arm pads, and gloves, but MLA recommends lacrosse-specific helmets and especially lacrosse gloves. 8U players must wear fitted mouth guards and appropriate athletic footwear. Protective athletic cups required.
  • For 6U, players need a lacrosse stick and appropriate athletic footwear. Fitted mouthguards strongly recommended but not required.

A word about volunteers...

  • We need volunteers to make our programs run. PERIOD.
Every registration has an option to select a volunteer role. If you're interested in volunteering in any capacity but don't know how, please send us an email: EMAILS@MTKALAX.ORG.
  • It's particularly beneficial for the program if we can get multiple parent-coaches, bench/sideline manager, and team managers for a given season. But we additionally need multiple assistant webmasters to help with SportsEngine admin tasks, equipment coordinators to help with getting goals to fields and getting nets strung up and gear delivered to coaches, apparel and uniform coordinators, and many others to make MLA successful for our kids!
  • You do not need to know lacrosse inside and out to coach for us. We typically have one or two "expert" coaches with each team, but it's always helpful to have additional bodies to run practices, fill in when needed, and monitor sideline activity and playing minutes. Particularly at the 6U, 8U, and 10U levels, we'll teach you everything you need to know to help out  as a coach or volunteer!
